You need to refer to the website elevenplusexams.co.uk which is devoted to materials and advice re all the grammar schools in U.K. - it's broken down by regions on the forum.

Not sure many on here will be familiar with the class names. How old will she be in September?

How old is your dc now and when is their bday. Current year 8 is aged 13 before August 31st. If you mean year 9, it is not a typical entry point in the UK state system so you need to make an In Year application - check the council and school websites for the process. Entry would depend on an assessment and whether there are vacancies and/or existing waiting list. Private schools ( some of which may have Grammar in the name) have usually already interviewed and assessed for year 9 entry by now, if they offer it, so you may be too late for this year. Do you plan to move over as you would need a UK resident address to be considered for a state school place.

So already equivalent year 9 in England? I think you will find it very difficult to get a year 10 place at a selective state school. Some start gcse courses in year 9 and will certainly have made their subject options. There is little flexibility to be taught out of age group.

so in September 2021they will enter yr 10. This is obviously not a standard point of entry for UK state schools and you will have to find a place at a school that has a vacancy, which is unlikely to be at a grammar or a top state school. You cannot make an application until you have a UK address so I would take things one step at a time and be realistic about schooling.
