Will January exams take place?

DC are in knots. The last one of my DC (year 12) heard on NYE was that their BTEC public exam (as well as GCSE mocks and Year 13 on site learning) would be going ahead on 11th, pending a negative test to be taken in school this week.

He is out of his mind not knowing if exams will go ahead - I’ve said to prepare for it to go ahead.

On NYE we were told we’d be given a covid test appointment and learning schedule on Monday and I’ve been frantically checking.

I am wondering whether it will actually go ahead and would like to see others opinions who are possibly in the same position?

DD2 is in a similar position. She’s in Year 11 and is due to sit a Level 3 Algebra paper on the 11th January. Only a handful of people in her year are involved - we have no idea what will happen! Watching with interest. I’ll update here if/when we hear anything.

This uncertainty is causing them so much mental stress.

DC's school said "yes" yesterday.
By tomorrow it might all have changed.

I have classes taking them this week and so far as we know they’re going ahead. It might change tonight I suppose.

I’ve just got my DS times for covid test and invitation for on site learning for this week

We’ve just had a call from the exams officer to confirm that the exam will go ahead on Monday. DD is very pleased as she has spent a fair amount of time over Christmas doing past papers.

My son's Academy have said BTECs will go ahead this week.
'they will send out a timetable nearer the time / don't call us'.
MH timebomb due to go off for some students.

Paul Brand on Twitter saying watch this space and that the exams will be cancelled.

DDs (year 12) Btec exam was cancelled by her school this afternoon, they’ve said they will enter them into the same exam in the summer. DD is really disappointed as she has studied really hard for this module, the whole class should be prepared enough to take the exam - yes have will be missing two face to face lessons lessons but there has been plenty of time to revise over the holiday.

@Cactusowl that’s great thaf she’s so prepared and sorry she’s feeling down, hopefully she can keep the knowledge sharp.

For DS and many others they lost a lot of teaching time due to isolating and they aren’t as prepared as they could be, today they were forced into school for exam prep and covid test, years 12 and 13 all mixing.
