my DD is not getting the invitations to interviews to private schools that we expected she would be getting. Her 11+ exam results are very very good.. so we are confused.. is anyone else in the same situation ?

schools are saying the candidate level is far higher this year ..

The school that I work in offers interviews before the entrance exam. If you are worried call the Admissions team after the holidays, I am sure they will help Smile

oh my goodness @blackheathdad - your post will send shivers down the spines of many on this board.
Are you sure that these schools have starting inviting back for interview yet?
Each of the schools we have applied for, whether DD sat ISEB pre Christmas or whether she still has the exam to sit in the first week of January, emailed us before Christmas to state the date from which they'd be emailing to invite back for interviews. These vary but are all between 7th & 14th Jan for interviews starting 15th Jan onwards

Hopefully it's just a case of you jumping the gun. Fingers crossed for you

EnolanotAlone · 27/12/2020 22:32

@blackheathdad have you had direct feedback from the schools you applied to saying your DD has not qualified & no interview? If not, then you may well be jumping the gun a bit as @PatoPato indicated. Good luck

How do you know her exam results are so good? Sorry to sound sceptical, but having been through the process I don't suppose you have any idea if they are good or not. Or do you mean grammar results?

Grammar results don't tell you how she did in the other exams

I think people have applied to more schools than usual this year

Iateallthesmarties894 · 28/12/2020 14:54

We don’t find out until mid January for the schools we applied to....worried now!

Stircrazyschoolmum · 28/12/2020 17:18

The GDST schools we’ve applied to won’t send out invites for interview till mid Jan.. one hasn’t even run their ISEB yet. Stay positive.. o
It’s a very odd year but hopefully it will all balance out!

montlieu · 28/12/2020 18:09

Hi
Do you mind sharing which schools you think you are not getting interviews invitations to ?
We are applying to 6 schools in south west London, the only one to have already sent interview invitations out, is interviewing every single applicant ahead of the written exam. None of the other 5 has started to send interview invitations out yet, they have said they won’t do so until around 11th January.
On the boys’ side, I have only heard of Whitgift having spent interview invitations out.

NoToMisogyny · 28/12/2020 18:14

Hampton School sent out all interview invitations in early December

Stircrazyschoolmum · 29/12/2020 07:53

@blackheathdad not sure if it’s one you’ve applied to (but guessing on user name!) but SCHS didn’t interview anyone this year. Usually they would before Xmas but it was ‘just’ the ISEB and creative writing. They will go straight to offer stage in early Feb. I can’t remember which GDST is nearest Blackheath but they might be doing the same.

The only school I know that’s offered actual places is Woldingham and all that applied were offered. (ISEB based)

montlieu · 29/12/2020 09:01

@Stircrazyschoolmum
SCHS’ website says they will get some girls back for a familiarisation experience, though not sure what that means at all!

Stircrazyschoolmum · 29/12/2020 11:36

@montlieu they were hoping to do it for girls unable to attend a tour last term. It’s not part of the admissions process.. I checked with them before Xmas!

montlieu · 29/12/2020 12:07

ok thank you !
it's not very clear is it ?
so no interviews, they will just offer based on ISEB and creative writing then.
we only realised afterwards that the creative writing task was meant to be 500 words :(

Stircrazyschoolmum · 29/12/2020 13:30

Was it?! Oh crap! I don’t think ours was that long.. one side.. she does have quite small writing though..

I think they will have to look more carefully at school reports and I guess ISEB will be telling..
