Hi, just wondered how you were getting on with looking at rossall school? We are choosing a secondary/ high school for our son. He’s done the entrance exams for AKS and Rossall and has a place at both. Due to covid we haven’t been able to visit rossall (other than an open day in 2019, when I was blown away by the school). AKS is literally on our doorstep, but rossall has offered a generous scholarship, and impressed us the most at the open days. We ruled out kirkham. Does anyone have any knowledge of these schools? Thanks

Hi, @Pinkclara1 did your Son end up going to Rossall School? If so what do you think of it?
@m123m what did you decide for your child?

I'm interested too, placemarking

ZenNudist · 19/06/2022 09:14

I'm interested too but only because I know the school. I'd always heard it was good for sport, not particularly academic and lovely location/ sea views must be a nice thing for the kids. Lots of overseas and military kids but not sure that still applies.

Hi, my son has nearly completed year 7, and is settling in well. It’s a very friendly and caring school. I would say its interested in educating the child in a rounded way. Building independence and confidence as well as academic ambitions. The range of subjects has really impressed me. It’s the only school in the area to offer Latin for example. Range of after school activities is vast. The bus from lytham everyday was a difficult decision. But we don’t regret it. If you have any specific questions, I can try and answer them.
Good luck with your decision.

I’m glad to hear he’s settling in well @Pinkclara1 . What are the class sizes like at the moment?

Pinkclara1 · 20/06/2022 17:35

I think they started with 16 (three form intake in year 7 this year). I think a couple of new students have joined, so it’s 18.

Hi do you feel connected to the school and your child’s school life

Pinkclara1 · 10/11/2022 21:52

I do feel very connected. But that might be my own choice. There’s plenty of opportunity to get involved if that’s what you’d like. Because it’s a boarding school, it’s very much a community, for all pupils and parents, not just the boarders.
