Hi Parents,
We are moving to Weybridge. My son is in Year 8. Please could you recommend if better to apply for Heathside or Chertsey High school?
Thank you

In terms of getting a place:
For mid-year moves the first thing to do is find out whether either of them has spaces, and if not, where your address is likely to place you on their waiting list (waiting lists are ordered by admissions criteria, not how long you've been on them, so it's possible to go straight to the top if you live near the school).

In terms of which is a better school for your son:
Not a clue, sorry!

Heathside is one of the most successful schools in Surrey so definitely go for it if they’ve got a space for you. That’s v lucky.

Thank you Lanthanum!

They are both good. A friend with children at Heathside says a lot of parents think it's not as good as it once was- no idea if that is true. Chertsey is quite a new school so untested with exam results.

Thank you JoJo!

inside knowledge, HS is more reputation than fact, however, it produces good results as parents are more supportive than other local schools. Bottom line, your child is going to do as well as how much you support them. Said that, it is not easy to tell your 6 feet tall child to get up to go to school!

Chertsey, the jury is out still and it might be out for a few years.

Heathside definitely. I don’t think it’s as good as it once was but really push for good results. Agree with poster above, parents supportive and involved.

Both my boys attend(ed) (eldest is 25) Heathside . I'm very happy with it- they dealt with ds1 brilliantly (lazy bugger Grin) and ds2 is stretched enough to keep him on his toes.

As per PPs -Chertsey High is too new to have much of a reputation either way.

Oh btw- ds2 is also year 8. They might end up being friends Grin
