Chiswick school (recent experiences only pls)

Anyone out there with children at Chiswick school? I’m looking for recent experiences of parents who have kids there in years 7 or 8... I’m aware the school had a bad rep before but I also know things have changed there so wld like to know what it’s like now for kids in lower years. Not interested in anything before the new head started.

My eldest is there in y7, so it is early days for us but I can let you know about our experience so far, which has been very positive indeed. DD went with a group of lovely friends from the local primary and has also met lots of new friends - mainly also from local primaries - Strand, Grove, Cavendish, Belmont, WH. She is very happy in her class and behaviour seems good on the whole. Any incidents of disruption seem to be dealt with swiftly and consistently. There do seem to be some very academically able kids in the class, and they are definitely pushing them. I was impressed at how much they had covered by half term. Teachers are strict but fair. DD really likes the majority of the teachers and is very motivated to learn in lessons. Things are obviously not 'as normal' currently, so they are being taught mainly in classrooms with teachers moving - so they've sadly not been able to do DT and only a small amount of practical science. Numbers for extra curricular activities have been limited but I've been impressed at how they've managed to keep activities going and given all the kids an opportunity with a rota system. The head seems fantastic. Communication is excellent - the couple of times I've had a reason to contact the form tutor, I have had a response very quickly. Any issues at all and they are all over it.
