Hello, we have just moved from Hampshire to Wimbledon and I'm looking for a school for my DD.

She has come from a very small independent school and so I'm looking for something similar.

Anyone have any views/knowledge of The Hall?

Can’t tell you much, but in case it helps.

I don’t think it’s considered to be a very academic school. I’m not saying this in a negative way, just stating a fact.

A friend's son goes there and they’re very happy. About 15 kids per class, I think. They have no homework on weekends or holidays.

They have a test on Fridays which covers what’s been taught during the week.

How old is your DD?

You may want to ask the school what the current ratio of boys to girls is in her year, as I think it leans heavily towards boys than it does to girls, if that’s something that would worry you.

Thank you!
My DD isn't super academic and her preference is to hang out with the boys - so it might actually work... Smile

The Hall is very small and mostly boys. It has a warm pastoral reputation and DD knows a few boys there who are happy but options at gcse are limited due to size

Has anyone got any views on the Hall school Wimbledon for y7 entry in 2021? I have heard about the issues they had sometime ago and the changes brought by the new head recently. Is this a good well rounded school? Good academic results and happy atmosphere? Thank you!

Our son joined HSW in Y7 and he is now in Y9. Since he joined the school changed ownership with new management, staff changes and a new headmaster so the old disturbing posts on Mumsnet are not relevant now. Over the last 2 years the new owners have invested greatly especially on the IT side.

HSW is a small school, and our son is in a class of just 13 this year. He is happy at school and is benefiting greatly from the small class size. The school is non-selective and not overly academic, but we do see our son developing as a rounded individual and working well towards earning a good number of GCSE’s when he gets to Y11.

Bottom line it is the right school for our son.
