SET grammar test for sutton schools

I wanted to ask if anyone has had their child go through the SET grammar tests for the sutton schools.
We're planning to apply for Wilson, Sutton and Wallington County for our DS. As I understand it, Stage 1 is a Maths and English multiple choice. Does anyone know what is in Stage 2? I'm wondering whether it involves creative writing or NVR and VR so we know what to focus on.

Thanks

WCG doesn’t have a second stage test.

This is all the info for this year’s test.

For future years, schools will release the info in advance so you know what to expect.

Stage 2 takes place on Saturday 28 Nov this year. For Wilsons and SGS they are sharing the second stage exam, although each school have their own marking criteria. It is based on 2 papers a maths general paper (not multiple choice) of 45 minutes, and an extended writing English paper which will be an hour

Great, thanks for the info. For the second stage English paper, it sounds like it will be creative writing? Since there are no past papers, what do people use to prepare for these exams. I've heard some suggestions of using the Manchester grammar past papers.

I’m a bit out date but for writing you’d need to be familiar with all types of writing from primary school, eg a letter, description, article, review etc. Practise using a range of vocabulary in a style appropriate to what you’re writing, correct spelling and good punctuation etc.

The writing task can be anything - DD had to write a persuasive letter 3 years ago. Her mock writing task at Sutton Grammar was using a page of facts they were given to produce an article/leaflet about the importance of treating nits :o

A friend who is a tutor told me she's seen story starters, an instruction to "include the following sentence" in a story, write news reports etc etc.

My daughter did it two years ago. Had to write a newspaper article in the second round.
