Greenshaw Sutton

Anyone have any experience of these two schools?
DS sat for the Sutton schools grammar test and we got the result that he hadn't met the criteria for Sutton Grammar, Wallington or Wilsons but may qualify for a place of Greenshaw.
It's not a school that was even on our radar and we know nothing about it.
Does anyone know what the grammar places there are all about? Is it a different stream?

Someone with more specific knowledge will probably be along soon, but as far as I am aware, no, it's not a specific separate stream once children are admitted. It's just part of the admittance criteria.

As above: it's just an admission criteria. Getting a place via the SET won't be any different from getting in due to catchment or siblings once at the school.

It's a good large comprehensive school.

RueDeWakening · 24/11/2020 21:37

It's a comprehensive with 60 places allocated on score in the SET rather than distance.

Once at the school, there isn't a separate grammar stream. It's generally considered a good school, but not one that people travel far out of borough to get to, so it depends on what your son's journey would be like I guess.

It’s a desirable school but not a grammar. Whether to go for Greenshaw or your local option, might depend on what your local option is really and how far you live. If you’ve got a desirable comp on your doorstep, probably no point travelling.
