Wandsworth year 6 test

JustJuice187 · 23/11/2020 10:12

Hi, I wondered whether any out of borough applicants had heard details of the year 6 test yet?

I know this is due to take place on 5 December but have had no other details.

Council is not answering the phone or responding to my emails.

Just wanted to make sure I'm not the only one who hasn't heard yet!

TIA

No, we haven't heard yet either.

JustJuice187 · 23/11/2020 15:19

Ok thanks, I'm glad I'm not the only one!

We are just trying to figure out whether it's morning or afternoon, as he has a potential clash with another exam.

It's annoying isn't it? We're the same with a potential clash, but it's radio silence from that school as well.

Given then Lambeth test isn't happening this year, I'm wondering whether either will actually go ahead!

AveEldon · 23/11/2020 16:18

Also waiting here

JustJuice187 · 23/11/2020 20:30

Ok - I hadn’t even considered the possibility of complete cancellation. What would they do instead?
Our banding test has also been cancelled for now awaiting further info

Anyone heard anything yet?

AveEldon · 26/11/2020 11:39

I've heard that it is going ahead
Based on prior experience I don't expect we will get location/timing confirmation until next week

Arkestra · 27/11/2020 00:35

As far as I know it's still going ahead: Wandsworth have more hanging on their test than Lambeth do - Graveney in particular.

But I haven't heard any details yet about the 5 Dec test either, and it's getting pretty close!

JustJuice187 · 27/11/2020 21:48

Hi DH rang Graveney admissions yesterday who said to expect an email from the council soon confirming details.

Hello I wondered whether anyone had heard from the council yet?
Thanks

Yep I’ve had an email today detailing which test centre Hopefully you have received it too

JustJuice187 · 30/11/2020 17:27

No I’ve still not received anything. I’m starting to wonder whether I did something wrong in my application- as I understood it we had to just list the school in our CAF in order to be able to sit the exam this year?
Is that right?
Thanks

c00k1e · 30/11/2020 17:41

@JustJuice187 that’s correct. As long as you have listed the school in the CAF you should get a test invite. Can I ask where you are? Maybe they are doing by boroughs or schools. I’m based in Merton.

AveEldon · 30/11/2020 17:44

I am in Wandsworth - nothing received yet

JustJuice187 · 30/11/2020 18:11

@c00k1e yes I’m Merton too!
Keeping my fingers crossed. He can’t actually sit the exam on Saturday morning as he has a clash so goodness knows if there will be any leaway.
Am presuming they just use the email you listed on the CAF

onemouseplace · 30/11/2020 19:55

Not heard anything here yet either.

Arkestra · 30/11/2020 23:26

Out of our group of parents (primary school in Lambeth) some have heard, some haven't. I haven't got the email yet! It should be the email on your application. Hopefully they'll get through sending everything out tomorrow.

onemouseplace · 01/12/2020 15:39

We've heard now - which is a relief.

Arkestra · 01/12/2020 15:49

Yes I got an email too - some time in last 15 minutes

JustJuice187 · 01/12/2020 16:58

Thank you yes we have received our email.
We are now trying to find out how to get from one exam to another in 15 mins or be given some leeway to arrive 15 mins late!Confused
Anyone have any experience with that?! I’m thinking hire a helicopter?!!

OP posts:
onemouseplace · 01/12/2020 17:04

Our WT email said registration is x:00 to x:25, with no admittance after x:30.

So you've got a bit of leeway if the WT is second, and you have a child who doesn't get too flustered about things like that!

Jumpalicious · 01/12/2020 17:35

@JustJuice187 we were in a similar situation re Sutton grammars round 2 and a clash with an indie school. In the end, we decided not to bother with the indie exam (with heavy heart since a great school, but had to give the grammars priority). Could you make such a choice or are both exams similarly vital?

JustJuice187 · 01/12/2020 17:40

@onemouseplace are you down for a pm session? I will message if that’s ok? DH is going to try calling Graveney in the morning

@Jumpalicious he’s doing the ISEB in the morning for which I’m grateful as that is the priority. The WT is a back up as Graveney is on our CAF - I have no idea how he’ll cope with two exams but he’s not finding ISEB too challenging right now so 🤞🏼

Just a note to say make sure you double check the exam date in your email - some people have been given the 12th Dec

dinosaurinmybelly · 01/12/2020 22:30

We had an email today saying DD will have to sit the WT on 12 Dec as they can’t accommodate everyone on the 5 Dec. Surely they had the numbers since 31 Oct. Why drop the news on 1 Dec?
