What school year would my Aug 08 born child be in under the Scottish system? She is currently the youngest in her year 8 English secondary. Thanks

1st year/ S1

@LargeProsecco were actually thinking the same. Do you know if my daughter born in April 08 would be the same? She's Y8 England but the Scottish cut offs are confusing me.

Terriblecreature · 04/11/2020 19:47

I live in Scotland and I am sure the cut off month is end of February. Not 100% sure though but I would say April and August 2008 would be 1st year of secondary school

My ds was born in August 08 and is in his first year at secondary. He is roughly mid way between youngest and oldest. April 08 birth would also be S1, and would be among the older ones as the birthday cut off is start of March.

Thanks all!

@emummy that's really helpful thanks. She has SEN so I'm glad it would be going a year back not ahead.

Good luck with the move if it goes ahead
