Sites for Finding Private Schools

Confusedmum1976 · 02/11/2020 21:03

Our DD is currently in year 5. My DH and I are beginning to think about which private school to send her to.

We live in central London (Victoria) so there are plenty of options.

How should we be approaching this? Does anyone know of any good sites I can use to whittle these schools down to? E.g Directory/comparison sites

Good schools guide?

www.compare-school-performance.service.gov.uk/find-a-school-in-england

This is the government website with all schools on it. You can filter by independent schools to get a full list.

You could also ask for some recommendations on MN and other posters might be able to advise based on what school you’d like, how academic your daughter is and her hobbies etc.

Schools pay to be in the good school guide so it isn’t fully unbiased.

www.isi.net/ Is the independent school inspectorate (similarish to ofsted) a lot of independent schools are inspected by isi so it is a good starting point.

Isi and iaps inspections are carried out by other school senior management so not impartial.

Schools don't pay to be in the Good Schools Guide, and they really do send people round to see them (as having a consultancy service, for which they need good up to date info on schools to make appropriate recommendations)

I thought no you might be confusing it with The Tatler, which (apart form some big names which just cannot be missed out) accepts advertising from schools included
