I am going to see SENCO Tuesday as a result of this thread
I am really pleased the language teachers seem to be given him the benefit of the doubt that he is trying and boosting his confidence etc and seems much happier about doing the languages.
We found out last week he is on the G&T register because of his CAT scores.

I don't want to waste her time, but how concerned should I be about spelling like this
"Wright down good unditakers and hosbittles and good beryol sights"

substituting

are for our

He does most of his homework on the pc, but the spell checker misses things like howl for whole
He has a lot of extra help in primary school with Wordwall and Stareway to Spelling. Is there any other help for him in secondary school.

I support in secondary & the teachers should mark on meaning rather than spelling with SLD pupils.
We withdraw pupils from some lessons & do extra reading & spelling, so you could ask about availability of those. We aim to try & teach strategies for spelling for those that have difficulties.
I also scribe for pupils who are reluctant to write answers because of their spelling worries. Does he have any TA support ?

Thanks Whizzz

He doesn't have a TA, but he actually enjoys writing. He gets high marks for his written homework despite the spelling , so they must be taking his SLD into account.

Unfortunately the SENCO appoitment was cancelled as she was ill, so it has to be rearranged.
