Holy Cross vs Ursuline vs St Philomena’s - which order ?

Hi,
These are my top 3, but I would love some feedback to know how to order them.
I think Ursuline and Holy Cross for top two.
I prefer Wimbledon as an area, not sure how much weight I should put on this.
Ursuline is bigger and busier and I got a really nice feel for the smaller Holy cross as more gentle. My Impressions could be wrong?!
St Phil’s has amazing grounds, HT seems too religious so no 3 and least nice area.
I’m thinking which area do I least fancy my dd commuting back from on a dark winters day.
Help pls!

Which school do you I've closer to? Or have the more direct route to?

Personally, I would have to agree with you that Wimbledon is a nicer area than New Malden. But it all depends where you live!

Go for the school you are closer to. If she attends clubs after school it will be nice to know the journey is not far. Plus she may have some local friends

Agree closest school. Loving that the headmistress of a Catholic Girls school could be 'too religious' though - isn't that the point?!

Pauk · 13/10/2020 23:39

It’s not black and white, it’s about how you practice so in a school setting actually yes ChritopherTracy...

Anyway, thanks for distance comments.
They are all kind similar journeys.

Does anyone have any experience of the schools and how do they compare ?

Car Village is a lovely area too. A lot more quiet and chilled out than Wimbledon. At least your daughter wouldn’t get distracted by shops on the way home Smile

We went with HC over Ursuline even though Ursuline is closer. Loved St P too but a little too far for us to be comfortable with the journey.

Pauk · 14/10/2020 18:15

I really like HC, but on paper Ursuline seems to have more on offer/facilities. (?)
I take it you are happy with HC? Seems like a more gentle school

It depends on what you are looking for. I talked about it with my DD tonight and she said her dream school would have the grounds of St Phil's, the facilities of Ursuline and the people of Holy Cross. That's it in a nutshell really. I just didn't particularly take to the Ursuline though I know on paper it is a great school. HC just felt more homely but with excellent results. Was impressed with the staff and the girls we met.

Thanks, it’s exactly my impression too! If one could only do a pick and mix! Still undecided.

Doesn’t your daughter have much of a preference either?

Min3rva · 21/10/2020 12:32

I have 2 in Holy Cross and a 3rd who left for 6th form. It is a very nurturing environment. I would say that great emphasis is put into children developing a strong sense of self worth and integrity .
Though there are clear benefits from it's small size the main drawback in my opinion is the woeful lack of space. Only one hall means that sports clubs are cancelled every time it's needed to be set up for exams ,parents eve ect. Happy to answer any questions if wanted.

Min3rva · 21/10/2020 12:36

Oh no missed the last bit which is it's a lovely school.
