Hello

Can anyone recommend a non selective independent school in/near Kent /Surrey? Our DS is one of the youngest in the year, needs nurturing and support not push ... he is fine academically but not up to a selective school... thank you

Ewell Castle and Box Hill spring to mind. There are also schools that are selective but all around options and easier to get into than some others, eg Claremont Fan Court or Royal Russell.

Also Belmont. Was a prep but now going up to 16. V nurturing but does well for their more academic pupils.

It’s a million years ago so might not be the least bit relevant but my sister boarded at Box Hill. She absolutely loved it but at the time it was known for taking sporty but not very bright DC. She left with very few qualifications - a testament really to not being challenged or pushed at the time. As she went on to do retakes & a degree & teacher training in her twenties, she was quite clearly capable.

I’d just want to double check current performance stats if it was me but as above, may be a very different kettle of fish these days!
