Does anyone have any children there or experience of it? DD1 is sitting the exam but there were no open days this year so we've never visited it and not had any chance to talk to current pupils or teachers.

If your name suggest your are from there than lots of kids will be coming from stokey. It's not as hot housey as people assume, it's just the only grammar in the area so it's got lots of kids applying.
We are doing the test this year too but I know lots of happy kids there. Just make sure you buddy up for journeys as it can be a bit rough.

Thanks Malmontar, good to hear it's not too hothousey. We moved a few years ago so slightly further but still a few kids every year get in from our area. Good luck to your child with the exam, not fancying our chances as Dd's concentration seems to have gone out the window during the last 6 months but can always hope.

very much depends on the child. my son has just left. loved it, did extremely well, had lovely friends. but he is very motivated and thrives under pressure, though its not desperately pressurised. he did have a friend who left because it wasn't right for him. you know your child.
