Immerse Education essay-Does everyone "win " a "scholarship"

Anyone know much about these people?Unknown to us dd entered an essay competition run by them, she heard a few days ago she had won a "partial scholarship",this it seems means some money off one of the courses they run in Oxford or Cambridge, the full cost of the course is nearly £5000 for two weeks, thats a ridiculous amount and no way could we afford it.
Looking on the net it seems that this is not an academic course but a glorified summer camp for rich kids from abroad, certainly plenty of schools from the far and middle East congratulating pupils on winning these scholarships ,some of the schools have put the winning essays up and the ones Ive seen are very poor indeed, one poster online told how after her dd "won" a scholarship they were suspicious so the following year they got five parents to send off the worst essays they could come up with.they all "won"
Just wondering if I'm being unfair, there is no way we could afford the course but I would feel better if it was obviously a complete waste of time and money..
