Could the 11+ exam be delayed again?

We're back in lockdown and I'm sure other areas will be following shortly. The 11+ has already been postponed once and as far as I know, it has been delayed throughout England. Could it be moved back again? I can't see any other arrangements being acceptable.

It is really hard to chaneg admission procedures though, as they are a legal process.
So they will do their best to have minumal changes.

I hope not. I don't think dd will take well to it being pushed back again. Our is meant to be happening in November so 2 months late as it is.

We've had to do secondary applications the old fashioned way, GS first the S (we've been given an extra, 7th choice, for this).

When I was y6 we took it just after Easter then you found out your score just before Whitsun break & found out which school you'd got in to the 1st week of June.

Our area has had theirs (Birmingham) at the usual secondary school test centres This was last weekend.

Ours has been delayed until 7 and 9 November. I am worried what is going to happen if there is another lockdown. It is now also in the same week as the entrance exams for the selective independent school that my DS is currently at and where he hopes to stay if he doesn’t go to grammar. We are applying for a scholarship so it’s important that he does well and I am worried that it’s going to be very stressful for him.

I know it is too late and already organised, but with all the social distancing and bubbles, how can having so many children from different schools and areas in one room for a relatively long period be considered safe?

Yes DDs school is now the 11th 1st Stage and 2nd Stage 28th Nov - the girls and boys are aligned with the second stage for the first time ever

I do wonder if the pass mark for the 2nd stage will be higher than it was in previous years to cut down on those needing to go on a Saturday.

Legally this would only be possible if it fits with their published admissions process
Quartz2208 · 22/09/2020 19:01

They just say only go through to the second stage if they get the minimum required pass mark for stage 1. No mention of what that would be

The pass mark for the second stage changes and doesnt mean entry anyway

We're live in Kent too although our DS goes to a school in Surrey so he will be taking the test at a yet to be advised centre on a Saturday. I had a letter from KCC saying they had received 6,000 out of county applications to take the kent test and it was going to be a mammoth task to find suitable testing sites with current covid restrictions so they asked us to let them know if we change our mind about sitting it. We visited Skinners School yesterday and the Transition Manager said she had received a letter that day from KCC setting out the arrangements so we should hear within the next week I think.

Birmingham got it sorted. My DS sat his on the 12th. They just had 2 separate sittings instead of one-so half in morning half in afternoon (done alphabetically on surname)

Sarjest · 24/09/2020 16:34

I wish ours had just gone ahead with it, Josh! It would have been over this weekend. The tutors are prioritising this year's cohort so next year's have less time.
