Year 6 open evenings this year?

Looking on local schools' websites it doesn't seem that there will be open evenings this year for year 6 Sad

How important are these, would people say? Any tips on choosing a school without them?

In my area they're all virtual this year. My DS has never even set foot inside a secondary school (well except his DD's all girls school) and it breaks my heart that we'll all be made to make a decision that effects his entire secondary education based on a virtual visit.

We'll be doing a virtual open evening with videos of each department.

It won't be as good, but better than nothing, I guess. The biggest bit missing will be the chance to just chat to the teachers.

Thanks both. I haven't even seen virtual ones advertised yet but will keep looking...

There is no way we could safely run our open evening we get over 1000+ people in during a 3 hour session. Track and trace nightmare.

I do feel for yr 6's as it is a big thing for them. All schools I know are doing virtual tours.
