Help with Btech result please

DS did a Music BTEC First Award (Pearson exam board) and achieved a P1. Am I right in thinking this is a pass at Level 1, meaning he did not earn enough marks for a Level 2? Or would he have just entered at Level 1? And is the GCSE equivalent of a D??

That’s correct. A P1 indicates a level 1 pass on a Level 1/2 BTEC. Level 1/2 BTECs,. The p1 is a fallback grade for those that haven’t met the standard for level 2. So a P1 is equivalent to grades 1-3 at GCSE (G-D in old grades).
