Year 11 - how to help DS focus

DS has dyslexia and has been in a small independent school since year 9. The small class sizes have really helped him and we've been really pleased with the provision through lockdown.

However, DS has spoken several times of his inability to 'focus' during lessons, especially those subjects he finds more challenging. He says it doesn't matter where he sits in class or how much he tries to concentrate, his mind wanders and loses track. Teachers of these subjects have made the same comments.

My worry is that now he is in Year 11, if he doesn't find a strategy to combat this, he will fail those GCSEs and potentially have to re-sit. He is already getting extra help in study skills but still struggles to concentrate.

Does anyone have any experience of this or advice? Fully appreciate we are dealing with the inner workings of a teenage boy but truly worry about him failing if he can't focus in core lessons Sad
