GCSE dates 2021

Just wondering what people's thoughts are on the latest date GCSEs will be held next year? There was talk that they might be put back a few weeks but I assume that they would have to be over by the end of private school terms? Thinking about summer holiday dates for next year.

does anyone have any thoughts on this?

My thoughts are that I originally booked our moved holiday for the last 2 weeks in July, but then I blinked and moved it to last week July/first week August.

My guess is that at most they'll put them back by 3 weeks. So instead of 2 weeks, half term, 2-3 weeks, it will be half term 2 weeks, week off 2-3 weeks.

I suspect they might put them off until after half term but then drop the week's break (which would really disadvantage those with lower stamina or extra time so I really hope they don't).

You also might want to allow for prom and 6th form taster days.

I work in a school but don't teach, I was sent next years provisional diary dates and exams are in from 7/6-3/7. That could just be a guesstimate as assuming start dates have been pushed back as that was being mooted.

I haven't seen anything official yet though so don't take that as set and as we know anything can change.

I don't see why exams should be dictated by private school terms - they can move their term dates.
But they can't make them too much later without impacting on results dates, remarks for A level entrance etc.
Though after the debacle on this year's results, who knows?

I think we have come to realise that things can change but at the moment contingency day is 29 June so exams will be planned to be over by then as that is the day an exam will be moved to if there is a problem that stops it happening on the planned day.
