DS1 (15), now in Y11, is being awarded Year 10 Student of the Year I have just opened the letter and wanted to share. :}

Am very proud of him. And can't text him to tell him as have just noticed his phone is here!

He is only allowed 2 guests on the night.. now [dilemma].. do I invite xH (DS's dad) who DH [step dad since he was 2]??! xH came in y9 when he got an award for 'outstanding strength and personaility' (!).. which he - DS - found most amusing! (Conceited he aint! )

Do you think it's DH's turn now? But obviously I want to tell xH.. and then he will want to come! Hmmmmm

They could go together and you could stay home!

Or ask ds who he would like to attend.

If you rang the school and explained the circumstances, would they extend the invitation to 3? There must be fewer and fewer straightforward "2 parent" set-ups these days - and I brought DS1's dad and my DH to some school award thingy once. For Student of the Year you'd think the school could be a bit flexible - it's worth a try before making a decision.

Have just phoned school.. and they have just got back to me and said yes!! So I can take husbands past and present, lol Thank you for advice. I am such a "law abiding" citizen that doubt I would have thought to ring and ask if you lot hadn't told me to!

Incidentally, I would have been too cowardly to ask in the first place, but I'm great at telling other people what to do!

Phone the school and ask for an extra seat.

The worst that they can do is say no, and I'd be amazed if they did refuse such a reasonable sucess.
