I've made the application online and I feel sick.

We are 99% sure that this is the right school for DS. We visited twice now. I had a good old chat to the head. I've spoken to pupils and parents of pupils at the school. DS#1 is really excited about it - quite a turn around considering he wanted to go to the same school as his friends and only 1 of his friends are going to this one. It ticks a lot of boxes. But I am still apprehensive. What if my judgement is really bad? We thought our primary was good (and we still like it) but recent Ofsted absolutely panned it. So how can I tell?

It seems so much more important than primary somehow. More serious and final. Does anyone else feel like this?

Any choice is a gamble. Schools with brilliant Ofsteds can decline and vice versa.

The only thing you can do is go with the school that you like and that DS1 likes. Feeling positive about a new school is terribly important to a new Y7 and you've done your best to ensure that DS1 feels this way.

Trust your instincts and remember that, if it doesn't pan out, you can move him.

Haven't done my application yet - I'm kidding myself that I've got ages yet!

The thing about the online application (in this area anyway!) is that you can log on and make changes any time up to the closing date, so whatever you've applied for doesn't need to be final.

I feel sick about ours too.

I wish we could fast forward to Easter and get the outcomes over and done with, instead of all this uncertainty.

Thanks everyone. I know I can move him but beleive me there isn't that much choice - as far as I can see - here and the only other school I would want is usually oversubscribed.

Exactly roisin. I want it sorted.

We can do that too pyjamaqueen - I don't think I would but it's good to have that option.
