Moving to Buckinghamshire for Grammar Schools

Hi All - this is the first time I am posting on a public forum - really need some guidance before we take the big decision to move house.

My daughter is appearing for 11+ in a year's time and we are keen to move to Buckinghamshire to increase her chances of getting into a Grammar school (there are no grammar schools where i currently live). Needed your guidance on the best areas to consider within Buckinghamshire for our move.

Our key criteria are:

  1. Within the catchment area of a good Grammar School
  2. Within the catchment area of an Outstanding / Good NON-Grammar School (just in case my daughter doesn't do well in her 11+)
  3. My partner works in Newbury (and will need to continue to do so) and can't drive - so close to a railway station with easy accessibility to Newbury (so basically south buckinghamshire?)

Thanks a lot for your help on this!

Kind regards,
bprad

Considering the price of property and the value of the time lost commuting, if your daughter is your only child, wouldn’t going private where you are be cheaper?
The high achievement by Bucks grammar school children is a function of the incredibly middle class nature of the area as much as any added value the schools give.
Also remember that you have a daughter. If they truly took the top 30% at 11+ the grammar schools would be overwhelmingly full of girls but as they balance for sex many top 30% girls will end up in secondary moderns.

This is not true - many years ago it was adjusted by sex but not any more.

Adjusted for age not sex

Sorry for the misinformation and thank you for the update.

Sorry to be pedantic but this isn’t quite accurate- it’s not adjusted. Each birth month is plotted on its own graph and then the average (100) established and all the other scores established from there so an August birthday could have to attain a higher raw score in theory then a December birthday in order to obtain 121. No one has their score adjusted (as in marks added or taken away) but all results are standardised.
