Just wondered, as our school have been totally silent.

OP posts:

Our school is still considering it and will let us know. I reckon this year we'll be emailed or posted results instead of going to collect them. Personally i chose to wait for results to be posted to me in the 80s as i didn't want to receive the results publicly

Justyou · 08/07/2020 00:36

We were informed today that they are unable to collect GCSE’s and will be emailed 8:30 am
A levels still can collect theirs though

RosieBdy · 08/07/2020 06:18

Our school are staggering times by tutor group. Arrive and go to top playground then they will be told which door to the hall they need to go through.
They've acknowledged that unfortunately it means some pupils will have to wait longer to get their results, but at least they can go and get them...

EasilyDelighted · 08/07/2020 06:39

Online through the student portal. They will only be allowed to go in if their results mean rethinking 6th form options.

boredboredboredboredbored · 08/07/2020 06:47

Not heard a thing from Dd school yet. Not surprising though they've been utterly shit through the whole pandemic 🤬

practicallyperfectwithprosecco · 08/07/2020 06:54

Emailed direct to students at 930 on results day then a follow up call the next day from 6th form to discuss options.

My non academic child perfectly happy with this as was dreading opening results with friends who were predicted high grades.

Northumberlandlass · 08/07/2020 07:01

Yes - I received an email yesterday.
They are planning for the kids to go in person & have provided time slots based on surname - starting at 9am & finishing after lunch (it’s a big school) & have confirmed a one way system.

They have also asked for all student’s email addresses & all results will be emailed at 2pm.

The school have already confirmed A-Level choices based on their own records / effort / attitude over last 2 years.

DD will be emailed at 8.00am followed by a phone call from 8.30 - 11.30am to discuss results and next steps (they will discuss option choices and offer advice and guidance with their sixth form plans).

DD is perfectly happy with that. Doesn't want a big fuss as she feels like she hasn't earnt the results. Which is sad as she will have done, just over a much longer period of time rather than taking the exams.

beenrumbled · 08/07/2020 07:41

We don't have a complete picture yet but school gave said they will be coming in to get the results as they sent us an email saying we will be collecting her leavers hoodie at the same time. I imagine it will be time slots but not sure yet.

Hercwasonaroll · 08/07/2020 07:41

Emailed and posted here. No face to face collection.

Haggardy · 08/07/2020 07:46

Our sensible school is both posting online and giving the option to collect in person at staggered times and locations.

RedskyAtnight · 08/07/2020 08:03

No info yet at all.

SnugglySnerd · 08/07/2020 08:05

Our school is doing staggered times for tutor groups and emailing them later in the day.

Aragog · 08/07/2020 08:08

They're having the same system for a levels and GCSEs. All done via email, with the results email at 8am. Telephone number to call if the child needs to speak to staff where they;l arrange an appointment to see them in school that day.

UltimateWednesday · 08/07/2020 08:42

I've been part of a discussion with the local secondary heads. There is a wide variation of opinions in how this should be done.

They are expecting "issues", lots of issues with the results.

Some schools recognise that it will be very important that the children have support on the day and are planning 1 hour slots for groups of children to collect results in person.

Others plan to run for the hills and use Covid as an excuse to hide from these issues by just posting out results.

SheikhaPinty · 08/07/2020 08:48

Total silence here and nothing about the recent IB. I’m getting really nervous now.

crazycrofter · 08/07/2020 08:51

Dd's school is having them in to 'celebrate with the school community' - which I thought was a very positive approach! I think maybe they're not expecting issues with the results, because it's a very high achieving selective school?

They're going in in two halves, at 9 and 10, based on surname, but there was no mention of one at a time/one way systems/social distancing etc. The only rule was that parents had to stay outside.

M0mmyneedswine · 08/07/2020 08:57

Emailed at 8am, im not sure about any follow up if you dont get the results needed though

whoamitojudge · 08/07/2020 10:21

My DD school hasn't told us anything so I emailed them last week to find out and they said that the results would be e-mailed.
Nice of them to let us know..........

PaddingtonPaddington · 08/07/2020 10:24

Still no news on how DD is getting them yet but the last communication from the school was that information will be shared in due course and if they are permitted face to face collection protective measures will be put in place. So I think that sounds hopeful as other schools are allowing it. Usually it’s doubles up as enrolment day for the sixth form. Hopefully will find out soon

Bridecilla · 08/07/2020 10:27

It's 6 weeks away!

Things are changing all the time - I've told ours (FE) that it's still up in the air

Zandathepanda · 08/07/2020 10:56

Interesting that a lot are getting their results by email. Our school stated they are not allowed to do that and pupils have to go in?!

EasilyDelighted · 08/07/2020 12:05

Do the students have school email addresses Zanda? If not maybe that's why.

UncleShady · 08/07/2020 12:21

Via the school portal - no going in. They have to log in this week.

Wheresthebeach · 08/07/2020 14:16

Via the portal. No going in.
