New Malden 6th Form

Hello,
I have 2 young boys of primary age and am moving to New Malden. The schools in the area seem fine up to GCSE but I’ve noticed the local boys schools don’t offer a good variety of A level options. I just wanted to ask where do young male students living in the area go to study their A levels?

Coombe girls has a mixed 6th form, Esher College is very popular locally and all the local Grammar schools have a new intake at 6th form so depends on your DCs trajectory/ subject interests etc. Also Kingston and Richmond College locally and lots of other school 6th forms in surrounding areas - Holyfield etc.

Thank you so much Fennelandlovage for your reply. That’s really informative and has put my mind at rest. We are all set for the New Malden move then!

@Mummymayumi as PP has said, Coombe Girls school has a mixed 6th form. That school
Is in Clarence Avenue. Coombe Boys School is a few miles away and has been slowly improving since the link to the girls school years ago. Coombe Girls has an excellent reputation and great results for a non selective school.

Esher College is a few stops away on the train and is a dedicated 6th form college. Hinchley Wood 6th form is fairy local too.

If your children are very bright then you may want to consider the local state grammar schools - Tiffin Boys and Tiffin Girls, both in Kingston.

I lived in New Malden for decades so feel free to ask me anything!

Thanks GreenFloors,
I can now add Hinchley Wood to the list as well. Seems like the boys will have plenty of choice when the time comes.
Thank you so much!
