We were delighted when the girls in years 7/8/9 were invited for a sports afternoon which was subsequently cancelled as apparently the guidelines changed.

I have a child at another school in one of these years who had a day at school with some lessons and sports. I can’t think they would ignore government diktat.

My assumption is that United Learning are saying no as many of the group are academies and this doesn’t bode well going forward. SHS has not been a patch on the provision of my other child’s schooling.

Interested in any other parents’ thoughts.

I don't understand your assumption. What difference would other UL schools being academies make?

Each school is different. I suspect Surbiton undertook a risk assessment and decided they couldn't offer what they planned safely.

Why don't you ask the headteacher - that is what they are there for!
Schools can only have 25% of ONE year in at a time. Hope that helps.

Well yes, I get the principle of "private" vs "state": but why would that mean you would cancel sports day for the fee paying school? Under your logic, surely you would want to keep them happy?

What everyone else said. Whyever they have done it, it wasn't for shits and giggles. Ask the school.
