Does anyone have any personal experience of The Marist in Sunninghill? The thread I have found is very old and as there's a moderately new Head, it would be good to hear current thoughts?

Hi, does anyone have any reviews on the school?? It seems like a popular place so I would hope someone would have more thoughts? How is it compared to St Georges and St Marys?

Sorry OP no direct experience but trying to bump for you. We live locally and have boys and I know that lots of the sisters of boys at the local preps I know, attend the Marist. Not heard anything bad. Hopefully someone in the know will be along.

@happyfeet12
I appreciate your post is now a few months old. I am looking at prep schools for my girls and wondered how you got on?

happyfeet12 · 30/03/2021 23:13

Hi, I liked the Head of the Prep and the space outside is amazing. We didn't go for it in the end however due to various reasons. What schools are you considering?

@happyfeet12 we looked at 4 (Eagle House, Lambrook, The Marist and Hall Grove) we have not whittled it down to The Marist and Hall Grove. Very different but I like a more relaxed atmosphere

Couple of friends have children there and they are extremely happy.

Hi there,
I have two girls at The Marist Prep and couldn’t rate it more highly. The girls are lovely, confident and have such an amazing curriculum. Ballet and swimming lessons plus PE, games and Forest school each week with specialist teachers so they’re really active. Specialist music teachers too and they’re both really happy.
Teachers know them so well and there’s lots of links with senior and of course they share their amazing facilities!
Happy to answer questions if you have any more. Good luck!

Hi, that's good to hear. I've heard the school has had a huge turnover of staff recently?

OP posts:
tylabobs · 23/04/2023 15:03

Yes definitely, I have had about 7 different business studies teachers this year so far (i’m in yr10). But to be fair i haven’t seen too much trouble from it! Any other questions?

happyfeet12 · 23/04/2023 18:58

Thank you, not really as we didn't choose the Marist in the end for various reasons. I'm just interested as I'd heard that all the senior level staff had left which makes me glad I didn't choose it if there is instability in the teachers. The new sixth form centre looks good if that's open yet??

Not yet but very soon, should be fully open by half term i think!

Hello, I saw your posts. I have been looking at The Marist for my daughter who is in prep. I was curious to find out more reviews and opinions. It’s odd when you google the school, the results all seem to be the schools own website. I’ve not been able to really find any real personal reviews or other information.

I did see the school changed ownership. How did you find information about the turn over in the teaching staff?

Do you know anything about the prep staff? Or have any li is to share?

This school came highly recommended from one person, whom I don’t know, an estate agent. However, I find it hard to choose a school where there is no real information or reviews online, considering how long it’s been open. It’s like looking up a brand new school that just opened.

I am trying to find the best prep school in Ascot, that is all girls and small. Somewhere good but laid back, with caring educators who listen.

I would appreciate any advice. I am new to the area and have to decide quite quickly.

thank you in advance

Hi, I saw your post. I’m curious why did the teaching staff turn over so much? Thanks!

The staff at the prep school are lovely and they do a good job of preparing for senior and enterance exams. If you are looking at senior for later on the prep is a good idea as well! I’m in year 11 and a prep prefect so i spend a lot of time there xx

Hello! Just been reading these posts and thought I would add… living in Berkshire I have heard great things about The Marist. I teach at another all girls school in the area so it’s always good to keep an eye on what others are doing! A couple of years ago my nieces (now in year 5 and 3) started at the Marist prep and they absolutely love it! There seems to be something there for everyone. My older niece is very sporty (they both are really) and has found her passion for netball has really been supported, there are plenty of opportunities for her to play against other schools. The younger one gets to play outdoors a lot which she loves and she is also into reading. My brother has said that within a term of moving them there from the local primary school both their reading came on leaps and bounds. Most importantly though, from a teacher’s and an aunt’s perspective, is that the girls are really happy. They love going to school and are thriving, so The Marist must be doing something right! I have a boy so will have to look elsewhere, sadly…
Hope this helps! X
