Hi my daughter Charlotte is doing a DT GCSE project and has done a survey - if you have kids between the ages of 5-12 we would be really grateful if you could do the survey with them - it should only take a minute and you dont have to leave email or identifying info. Many many thanks claudine and charlotte charlottesdtproject.wordpress.com/

Ah sorry I don’t have DCs the right age. Good luck.

Didn't work for us. Stuck on the dolls question. She has other dolls, could nt select no Barbie, lol or brats dolls. And then survey wouldn't go any further Also, she plays in her room, but doesn't study there, she has no desk there. So the question about do you play and study in your room seems strange. Needs to be 2 separate questions.

Hoppinggreen · 21/06/2020 13:27

DS has done it but as he doesn’t have dolls he couldn’t answer the majority of the questions

KoalasandRabbit · 21/06/2020 13:37

I've done the survey with my son but some of the questions need to be seperate - she's sometimes asked more than 1 question and there only 1 answer so if your answer is yes to one, no to other you can only answer yes or no. So his room is untidy but he doesn't care. Also in the things to keep tidy it includes bed and drawers whereas I would count a child putting things in drawers or bed drawer as tidying though maybe means on top of bed. There's a spelling mistake on puzzles. I've done it but I would say it maybe worth going through it and maybe re setting it up if you want the maximum chance of scoring well on the project, hope it goes well for you. There's a lot about dolls but that maybe the idea.

Thanks ladies - points above noted - will try to change questions up a bit - problem is with survey monkey you only get to ask 10 free questions or you have to pay so I have tried to combine questions. I will modify dolls question to have 'other' it is kinda biased towards Dolls I know - she has a particular final client in mind a lovely 9 year old friend of ours who desperately wants a dolls house for her LOL dolls - Charlotte isnt supposed to have an end product in mind so we are trying to keep the survey open - but also directing it at the same time if that makes sense I will also try to fix spelling mistakes point also noted about bed and drawers - where the answer has two parts i will try to change it to a comments box rather than a selection box so you can explain answer. So grateful to you all - many many thanks

We've just tried it but the Sylvanian Families carnage across DD2's floor doesn't really fit into the questions so I'm afraid we didn't finish.

If your DD is primarily interested in storage solutions for dolls/figures I'm not sure how useful it is to ask a question about playing and studying. She may find it useful to redesign her questionnaire and perhaps target Lol doll fans to fill it in! I'd be encouraging her to ask:

  1. Do you have a bedroom of your own? Yes, No
  2. What are the toys/activities you play with most?
Lego or other construction toys, soft toys, role play/dressing up, arts/crafts and stationery, games or puzzles, figures e.g. Playmobil, dolls, Sylvanians, gaming device e.g. Switch, Playstation, other (please describe)
  1. Where do you store the toys/activities you play with most? Bedroom, other (please tell me where). 4. How hard do you find it to keep your toys/ activities tidy?
Impossible, a bit tricky, quite easy, it's really easy
  1. What is the main reason for your answer to no.4? Storage isn't big enough, storage doesn't have space for me to set them up/play with them, storage is in a different room from where I play with them, - other options your DD wants to include-, other (please describe).
  2. How important is it that you can display/leave built your most played with toys? Extremely important, quite important, not important, I don't want to display them/leave models etc built
  3. If you could design the ideal storage for your most played with toys/activities, what are the most important features? Please put in order: different compartments/rooms, big enough to leave things on display, environmentally friendly, it can be painted, it includes sections for accessories/add-ons, looks attractive
  4. What else do you think would be important to include in a new storage unit for toys/activities?

ds has done it but we have no dolls! He considered that as dolls/soft toys ...hope that is ok. He would love a dolls hourse big enough for. his soft toys.
