We've looked on the internet for a basic life history, to no avail. Anyone done this and got any ideas where to look? Thanks

is it too obvious to suggest the Bible? Matthew and Luke are probably your best bets.

bossykate · 24/09/2007 15:46

try this in wikipedia.

damn my slow typing...

FabulousKbear · 24/09/2007 15:53

At least you can liven it up with some jesus jokes Mo! John John.... !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sorry, seriously, bit of a big subject to cover in an evening's homework. No park tonight then!

MaureenMLove · 24/09/2007 15:54

She's in year 7. I did suggest using her bible, but she's trying to be smart and find something on tinternet! Thanks for your help.

She's gonna do it at Rainbows! I was thinking, 'Jesus walks into a hotel, throws his nails on the counter and says 'can you put me up for the night!'

Oh, I'm so sorry, not meaning to offend, but it is very funny!

This may not be relevant at year 7, I don't know what teachers encourage at that stage - BUT as a university lecturer, I would really like schoolkids to learn that using the internet is NOT the 'smart' option. Books should be the first port of call. The information there is much more likely to be reliable than anything available on open-access internet resources.

MrsBadger · 24/09/2007 15:59

tbh most of what is is known about his life is from the Bible, so she may as well use the primary source...

Cappuccino · 24/09/2007 16:05

stop it the lot of you right now

my mother used to do this, try to do my homework for me

and it's lovely to want to help and everything but with hindsight it was too much and ultimately not helpful

send her to the library fgs

it's the life of jesus, it's not rocket science

MaureenMLove · 24/09/2007 16:05

She's printed the Primary one thanks, MrsB, I think thats perfect for a new year 7. Thank you for your help.

Definitely get her to go to the bible - good practice to go to most authentic primary source!

LucyJones · 24/09/2007 16:07

or an encyclopaedia
hae you got one in the house?

FabulousKbear · 24/09/2007 16:08

I think she will be in detention if she has to read the bible before doing this essay!

And Cap - encouragement with homework goes a long way don't you think? I hardly think Mo is going to be writing the essay.

She looked it all up Cappuchinno, not me. She asked for my help and I gave it. Its in the school contract that I signed, that I will help and guide in homework, wherever I can. Its done now, she's reading the Primary stuff MrsB suggested.

oh I was not wanting to be mean Maureen honestly

just that asking mn for help with homework seems like going a bit far

just reminds me a bit of my mum who would actually 'do' the finding of the stuff rather than suggesting places to find it, iyswim

it's a difficult line to draw I know but this thread seemed a bit, um, over the top. I might be wrong but, well I stand by my comment, though I didn't mean it to cause offence

MaureenMLove · 24/09/2007 18:44

No offence taken, m'dear. I agree, there's a fine line between guiding and doing their homework. I've never been one to do more than I should. Kinda pointless to do it for her, since the teacher then thinks she knows what she's doing! Just thought that it might be difficult to summerize the life of Jesus in less than 5,000 words without my help!
