Harris Academy Greenwich / Eltham Hill school

Hi all, trying to plan for DD secondary options, and we’ll be moving house to get nearer decent schools.
DD head teacher had recommended Harris Academy Greenwich, Eltham Hill, Thomas Tallis, Leigh Academy, and for private, Eltham College or Blackheath High.

To go private, we’d need to move to a cheaper area than we are now (we’re currently in Greenwich/Blackheath borders), so we’re looking at moving to Mottingham/Lee/Grove Park to be able to release equity out of our current house to afford private.

But if we didn’t get in, what are the state options like of Harris Academy/Eltham Hill?
DD is very bright and able, quite sensitive, and at a tiny school right now.

The only schools we’ve been to from the above before lockdown were Tallis and Blackheath High, and liked both (but finding that house prices have shot up massively near Tallis, and we can’t find houses we like in budget nearby).

@Confuzzled2020 so many people posing for staged photos and taking up quite a lot of space doing so! I looked up St Dunstan’s it looks lovely. I thought about sticking to Mottingham and St Olaves Prep, and Farringtons in Bromley - did you look at those?

I like St Dunstan’s uniform, reminds me of my own as a very little one.

Farringtons is much less academic. Well known for kids who need a bit more help. We may consider it for DD2 - they have a bus from Greenwich but quite a long way. DD1 is more academic. We applied private to St Dunstans, Blackheath High, Bromley High, Colfes and Eltham. St Olaves is too academic for both of mine and is really too long for us to consider travelling to. But families from near here do. Dont know Mottingham at all. Leigh Academy is good but has a tiny catchment area as well.

Sorry just realised you said St olaves prep not St Olaves Grammar. Dont know anything about junior schools in that area.

I was saying that to DH that private school options in grammar areas don’t necessarily mean you’re paying for better academic environment - I’d heard that often they’re where parents “didn’t get into grammar school but didn’t want comprehensive”.
