Netherstowe School Lichfield

Can anyone give me any information on this school?
We are currently going through the appeal process for a different school and this will have to be our choice for plan B if we are unsuccessful. I know it has had a reputation in the past but it seems to be on the up the last couple of years. Any comments would be appreciated. Thanks

It is considered the least good of the three secondary schools in Lichfield. However, I know the current headteacher, having worked with him in the past, and he is brilliant. I think that, over time, the school will show real improvement, but may always struggle in comparison to the other two schools.

Thanks Foldinthecheese that's what I was thinking. Such a stressful time going through an appeal. The school we have been offered is awful.

Do you mind me asking which school you’ve been offered?

A Rugeley school

Snuggles23 I know of children who are there now and have been in the past and have been very happy. All of the schools in Lichfield are good schools with their own positives and negatives. If the Rugeley school you have been offered is the one I think it maybe then Netherstowe would be a much preferred option

Thanks @Manyoaks that's what I thought. Since posting I've spoken to some parents who's children currently attend and they have very good things to say about it. Yes I'm sure you know the Rugeley school!

I'm a former Netherstowe pupil! As is my Dad and most of his side of the family! I had a wonderful education there, I have GCSE, A Level and went on to a degree at Durham University.

I think at the moment it's a much better school than it has been. It does have quite a bad name to be honest!

King Edwards is a much better school all round, so possibly worth a look?

Snuggles23 · 24/05/2020 11:18

Thanks @WhatInFreshHell King Edwards is oversubscribed and also on the wrong side of Lichfield for us. I think Netherstowe has had a bad reputation in the past but lots of schools have ups and downs. Have heard that since the new headmaster started it has improved significantly. I think there are good ans bad at every school.

King Edward's is always over subscribed but that doesn't mean there isn't movement, don't rule it out for that reason alone. Have you considered the Friary? From bitter experience really look at the fit for your child. The 'best' schools don't always suit all
