How much revision are your year 9s doing?

DD has her Summer exams as normal at the end of the month, except she’ll be doing them at home. All her lessons are done by Zoom, so curriculum is being covered.
She has not started revising yet. I wanted her to do a little each day at Easter. She did none. And then a little each evening and a lot on the weekends during May. So far, she has done none.
She avoids pressure e.g. to revise, a lot. But I’m trying to work out whether she’s just doing what everyone else is doing because times are different, or if she’s being very lazy.
So if your children’s re in a similar position to her, are they revising? And if so, how much?

My dd3 is at an academic girls private school. They have a full online curriculum. They have cancelled year 9 exams and told the girls not to worry.

My DDs exams (also Yr 9) have been cancelled, but if they were still on I would expect a hour or two a night, and maybe three per day at the week.

My DD is also at an academic girl’s private school. It would so take the pressure off me if I knew she didn’t have exams.

My year 9 does 4 hours and 30 minutes a day of school work.

As a TA who works with year 9, I can confirm that year 9 will be neglected at the moment as their work, despite what we say to them, can easily be caught up on, and year 10 will be the focal point of every secondary teacher as they are missing GCSE knowledge. Most of what is set for year 9 is revision and pointless busywork - quizzes etc.

Dd has full days from 8.20 to 4.30, a few frees and games lessons where she goes for a run. They are covering lots. I tend to find relative YouTube videos for the frees, ie the Jeremy Paxman doc on Wilfred Owen. All is going well.

We don't know anything about end of year exams. He's working a full school day (only the odd online lesson though) and anything where there isn't set work he's doing mygcsescience, memrise, rosetta stone etc

My Year 9 has also been told exams are cancelled. From last week she had a few online classes (Google classroom) - but usually about 2 half hour proper classes a day (at least the first one is at 9am, which means she has to be up). There is usually about an hour of further content (including two slots a week of pastorial care) - but each subject (asides from maths, english and science) is only getting one half hour a week, and maths, english and science are only getting two half hours a week. Then she is being set some work to do during the other times, but it isn't exactly onerous. And a Joe Wickes type video which they are supposed to do at 3pm each day (but since her martial arts after school club has moved onto Zoom, and she is doing two afternoons of quite intensive martial arts, she is skipping those - I tried to pursuade her to only skip them on the afternoon she is doing martial arts, but haven't succeeded).

My year 9 has been told there would be no end of year exams. However in the Easter holidays I did bribe him/push him to do an hour or so of maths each day.

He slipped sets this year, so it has been great as when he's gone back to lessons he commented on how much more confident he felt and we spotted him explaining maths to a friend after lessons.

He hasn't revised any other subject.

DD has also been told no end of year exams but they will have topic tests in subject where this makes sense. But she's already studying GCSE subjects and have been revising through the year anyway.

DS did about a couple of hours work per subject in Year 9. They also did revision at school. I would say that was a bit on the light side but starting revision at Easter for exams at the end of May would have been OTT. Particularly if it's not for GCSE subjects!
