Windsor Boys v Charters Sunningdale

Does anyone have any feedback for either of these schools and suitability for a sporty outgoing boy?

Need to decide! As they have different years intakes we should be fine for Charters yr 7 or Windsor yr 9 and he can stay at his current school until either year.

Are you willing to move as I'm guessing you won't be in the catchment for both? Where are you based?

NaturevNuture · 07/03/2020 22:19

I’ll get both. I’m in catchment for Charters but if I leave it till year 9 then it’s Windsor Boys as Charters doesn’t have an intake then.

They're quite different - one's much more traditionally structured.

Is your son happy where he is? If so, WBS could be good. If he's ready to move, perhaps try Charters. Is he at a state middle school or a prep school? If he's at a prep, will there be enough staying in Y7/8 or will it get very small?

Really looking for pros and cons of each school.

We are happy we could move at either year and have considered all aspects of this. Just looking for best option for him do want to compare schools.

What’s more traditionally structured mean? And any other comparisons you can share that might help us decide?

Keen to get up to date thoughts on these schools. We are looking to relocate from wandsworth to the Windsor area and thinking about these two schools. We are currently in private prep schools but these looks like great secondary schools. Would love some current feedback - pros and cons. Thank you!

I’d be interested to hear up to date reviews on these schools? Could anyone give up to date insight on Windsor boys and charters? Looking to move to either catchment potentially.

Personally, I think Charters has declined a fair amount with the change of Head. It's still going to be a good academic choice as the drive is there for results but it's nowhere near as friendly a school and parental inclusion is a lot less than it used to be. In addition, sports provision is nowhere near as good with a much narrower choice of sports available and very few competitive matches outside of boys football for a term, and if sport is important to you, then Windsor Boys is a much better choice.
It's also heavily fixated on appearances - it's 32 degrees this week but the kids are still coming back in shirts, ties and blazers.

TWB has an awesome rowing team Smile.

Charters lost it's Outstanding rating I believe. TWB has recently been Ofsted and is still Good with Outstanding elements.

Personally, I'm not a fan of single sex schools so would chose Charters for this reason but TWB has excellent teachers and structures.

I don't have a child at either school but have friends and family with children in both.
