Highgate WL

Hi, has anyone heard about spaces on Highgate WL and whether they have filled their spaces and have even reached their WL?
I asked last week, but my DD still has not got a place. I guess we wlil be going with our preferred state option as today is the last day for Highgate acceptances. Would love to hear from anyone who has got a place from Highgate WL this year?? I was hopeful because it sounded like several people with DDs were turning HG down.

Hi there @Esther23. We turned down a Highgate place for our DD yesterday (after our grammar school place was confirmed on Monday night) and I expect there are others in this position. So hopefully there will be WL movement and your DC will get a place this week. Good luck!

This gives me hope .Although it also makes me worry that DD is quite far down wait list if she hasn't been offered a place, and also that maybe the school might be too much for her. She is perfectly bright, but not outstandingly so. Is academic pressure bad at Highgate, does anyone know? Ideally, I guess you don't want dc to be at bottom of year group

Have you rung the admissions team? I am sure you have, but I rang them a few times to stress how keen we were to take up the place and also emailed. My dd sounds like yours - bright but certainly no genius (sorry dd ). Good luck to you. I know how stressful it is.

Yep, I've rung and emailed and stressed as much as possible without sounding too desperate. I have a feeling the Year 7 places might be full now. But they havne't confirmed that to me, when I rang, so I'm still hoping...

My son was offered a place off the WL yesterday but we turned it down. Think there will be spaces. Good luck!

@2xduogjr Was your son offered off WL for 11+ or 13+? I should have clarified this is for 11+
If you don't mind me asking, where have you chosen instead? I feel HG is our dream school, but I wonder if I've been taken in by the very good PR on tours etc I sense we are so close to getting a place,but somehow still far

Hi yes it’s offered off WL 11+. Highgate only has 11+. We chose MTS. Highgate is a good school. We like the co-Ed and think excellent teaching is their strong point but we are just not warm to it. My son feels very strongly about MTS and it has always been one of our top choices despite the distance.
