Moving to Haslemere and would like to find a good mixed secondary school private or state

Hi I'm moving to Haslemere (just in the west sussex catchment area) and want to get more information on the local schools. My daughter will need to move to Year 8. She'd rather go to a mixed school. I have looked up Midhurst Rother College and it says it's Ofsted outstanding. I can also see Bohunt Academy at Liphook which is also Ofsted outstanding but it's in Hampshire so not sure she'd get in? She is quite academic but needs good pastoral support. Will be coming from an excellent state school in north Surrey - so moving her is a big decision. If anyone has any experience of these schools or other schools in the area state or private I'd really appreciate hearing from you. Many thanks

Is Wispers still there? My friend went there as a boarder and had a fantastic time, really enjoyed it. Got good results too. That was nearly 40 years ago though.

There used to be an 'alternative' school in that area called The Blue School which purportedly got good results too.

If they have space at Bohunt in yr 8 you would get in - doesn’t matter about the county as it would be a mid year application. I have friends in Haslemere whose kids go there and they are very happy with it
Woolmer Hill is the other local state option and is also supposed to be good although I think Bohunt is preferred for some reason
Think the privates are single sex at secondary age so won’t work if your daughter def wants co-Ed

My friends are v happy with Bohunt.

If Bohunt have a space at year 8 then she’d get in. It doesn’t matter that it is a Hampshire school. I know people who are happy with it. Woolmer Hill is also worth a look - smaller than Bohunt and also know people happy with it. You could also look at TPS - The Petersfield School - which is also a very good school.

Lots of Haslemere children go to Bohunt. When we were looking it was much more popular than Woolmer Hill which was going through a pretty bad patch. Woolmer Hill seems to be doing better these days, and I think it's a nicer size.

If you're looking at private, there are actually quite a few co-ed choices. The most local, the Royal, is now co-ed and Haslemere children also go to King Edwards's in Witley, St Edmund's in Hindhead, Churcher's in Petersfield and Frensham Heights in Frensham.

They are all very different so I'd go and visit as many as you can.
