Wait list offer CLSG

I imagine they’re be some movements for those on the waiting list for all independent schools with effect from tomorrow due to national state schools allocation day.

My DD was offered a wait list offer at City London School for Girls but I’m now thinking that since she never made their top list then perhaps the school wouldn’t be the right fit for her. She’s a bright child but not overly confident, shy and I get the feeling that CLSG have girls that have a natural confident demeanour and expressive with opinions but I may be wrong.

Dd is at CLSG. I know that a few of her friends got in from the waitlist but only because a few of the parents shared the pain with me before they all started ! Once they are in no one knows or cares any more and you can’t tell the difference. I think you are overthinking it tbh Smile

Agree with PP that you are over thinking it and that nobody cares once they have started !These schools only put girls on the waitlist who they think will thrive at their school. Often it’s an “on the day thing” and a tiny percentage point or fraction thereof between those that get in and those that don’t. Also if your DD is from state sector your DD might not have had the same level of support / heads reference/ report whereas a top prep school would have ensured everything was in place for the right child . But even if she were at the prep she has earned that place and please don’t worry about this ever again if you do take up the place . The wait list DC at our very selective indies actually do very well. Well done to your DD.

Hi, did you get an update from CLSG today about the waiting list? Our daughter is also on the waiting list but has yet to hear back from them.

Battenburg11 · 03/03/2020 21:05

No, I assume you got their update yesterday? To be honest, I’m surprised they still as they say, have spaces bearing in mind of previous years exploding offers and offers accepted within days!

They will also inform wait list children once spaces have been filled so I assume they went down the order of their list today and offer and then give them 24hrs to respond before going to next person?

All private schools should make the effort to interview all students who applied this year ..

I think some of the “less academic” schools do this. But schools in the top 20 (ie supersonic schools like City) do not—they are steered by the results in the exams. Agree it’s unfair when we’ve been in lockdown but perhaps it’s always been an unfair system, given prep schools tend to cover more than state schools or at the very least have more focus on the individual child (posh prep in Hampstead versus underachieving state primary - with large classes and overstretched teachers - you can imagine the difference)...
