Eltham 2020 11+ girls

Starting this thread to see how many families have offers and thinking of sending girls to Eltham in September 2020 year 7. Our daughter has an offer and we really like the school. As it's the first year of co-ed it's a bit experimental but we're hoping that it will be brilliant. Anyone out there to help our dd make a girls' hockey team?

I have boys there in older years. I wish it had been co-ed when my DD went to secondary! Hockey will be sorted as school has close ties to the Blackheath & Elthamian hockey club, which has a really strong junior girls section.

Sorry OP I have an 11+ boy. Excited for him nonetheless! Did you go to one of the taster afternoons last week? Lots of girls there...

beanievet · 01/03/2020 16:23

@chalkyc2 no we didn't get invited to a taster afternoon last week - it's a shame as meeting lots of other girls would have been really helpful. Do you mind me asking how you knew about these sessions?

@NewElthamMum13 - thanks, good to know there's support from other parents further through the school for the co-ed move.

@beanievet - the invite was on the offer letter - gave a time and asked for confirmation that you wanted to attend. Weird you didn't get one?!

We know some really sporty and talented girls (other extra curricular talents too) definitely going. It needs a certain type of forward thinker to grab this great opportunity. If you are worried re numbers call the school 1 day before acceptance/on the day of acceptance to check numbers. Also the parent group coming in from Blackheath generally speaking is great!

Teabing · 03/03/2020 16:04

@beanievet I don’t think the children offered academic scholarships were invited as they had already a classroom session...

beanievet · 03/03/2020 16:50

@Pettswoodmumof3 Thanks for your feedback. It seems acceptance is slowly creeping up - it's in the low 20s as of today with many families still deciding. That's enough for several hockey teams, so it's likely they'll get our vote too.

We're one of those low 20's! Older brother at the school and very excited about our daughter going there. It's a great school.

*20s

@Teabing - yes, you are correct - another parent in the same situation had confirmation from the school. It's a shame for those children though to miss out. An academic scholarship assessment is not very relaxing (!) and I feel they would have benefitted from attending with all the other offer kids last week in a more relaxed environment to really get a feel for the school and their potential new class mates.

@EnidAlexandraRollins - Yay - congratulations to you and your daughter.
