Cambridge secondary schools

Hello! Me my husband and my three kids are thinking of relocating to Cambridge. My oldest son is going to a really good secondary school here up in the north and I heard in Cambridge it is hard to find an equally good state school. Is that true? Which secondary schools would you recommend in and around Cambridge?

There are lots of excellent secondary schools in and around Cambridge, in the city St Bedes, Chesterton and Parkside are all highly regarded and others are good. Further out I know that Impington and Comberton are both highly regarded. The problem is likely to be if your child is already at secondary then the sought after schools may well be full in his year. You also need to look at where you are likely to be living - in the city itself probably gives more choice but comes with a high price tag. There are lots of threads about schools on the local board so you may find you get more responses there.

I am struggling to think of a state secondary in and around Cambridge that doesn't have a really good reputation, you are spoilt for choice, and it is crazy that we have such a high number of private schools here.

Even if you come out as far as Ely now the secondary schools are good now and there is a choice. Impington, Bottisham and Swavesey are all good or outstanding too. There really is a much wider choice of good schools than a few years ago.
