hello all!

My daughter is 1, I live in Chiswick and I starting to look into primary schools and any feedback on any of the below schools - if your children have been / or go to them would be so hugely helpful! It is such a hard thing to start looking into for a child as I know how important it is!

Thank you!!!

Name of School
Strand on the green Infant and Nursery School
Lionel Primary School

St Mary's is hugely oversubscribed and you won't get in without fulfilling the religious criteria.
Grove Park and Belmont are hugely oversubscribed and you have to be in catchment. The Grove Park catchment is very small because there are lots of flats around it (my ds went to Grove Park). Belmont catchment moves a bit each year but you will absolutely need to check where the furthest point was.
Strand on the Green is big - 3 form intake - and it is an infant and junior school so you have to apply again for juniors.
I don't know very much about Cavendish.
Lionel Primary is right up by Gunnersbury Park.

Green Dragon is going towards Brentford.
Where in Chiswick are you?

In your rather wide ranging approach, about the only Chiswick state school you haven't mentioned is William Hogarth!

Don't know the private schools.

One year old is very young to be looking in terms of state schools to be honest. Heads might change, schools might change. Remember that you might get a child in to the school's nursery out of catchment but that does not guarantee a place in Reception.

If your intention is to do state primary and then private secondary, Grove Park, Belmont and Strand all regularly have pupils going on to the local top private schools including St Pauls, Latymer, Godolphin, Putney etc.

Note some of those private schools recommend registration on or before 1st birthday!.....ie Ravenscourt Prep/Kew Green....so you might have to pay some registration fees if you want to keep the private option in the running.
Of those private ones......Kew College is usually the cheapest if price is a factor. A small site but very good and nurturing. Good academical results to senior school.
As said where in Chiswick are you?..as catchment areas as key for state.

I am more towards Kew as well so right on the other side of Chiswick Smile

It’s something I haven’t thought of but you need to register by birth / 1 if we are looking at privately (which I am still unsure of) so any ideas would be amazing as it’s somewhat confusing when there are so many schools to choose from and such competition!!!!!

Just had a look at Belmont for example...last yr you needed to be with 0.31 of a mile to get in. So I'm guessing you might be just outside that catchment area? (of course that distance might increase in a few yrs!?)
When ds was at your dd's age we narrowed it down to 3 private schools in this area and registered. Its about £75 to £100 each, but gets your name down and gives time to think.

Popular state primaries in Chiswick are very oversubscribed so the reality is that there is no choice. Distance from school will determine where your dc will go. Of course you can move house right next to school to be sure of a state offer.

By the way, you may want to move this to Primary education rather than Secondary. You will probably get answers from people who are in schools you've named currently.
