Isle of Man schools

Hi

Does anyone have any recent experience of secondary schools on the IoM?

Potentially moving there with our 13 year old in the summer. His current school is great but it was the default choice for his Primary, so never really had to make a decision like this.

We've always thought that a good kid from a good family will thrive in most places but it would be really useful to have some thoughts about choosing a new school from scratch and particularly the Island.

Cheers kids

Castle Rushen High is supposed to be good, and scored 'effective' and 'very effective' in all areas (similar to 'good' with ofsted).

Hi, I’d probably start with Castle Rushen which is in the south, or QEII which is in Peel, they are probably better than the Douglas schools. My niece is at CRHS in year 8 and she loves it, my friend’s daughter is in year 8 at Ballakermeen and they have less good things to say about it although relative to the UK, you can’t go too far wrong on the IoM......
