Does anyone know which of these boards is easier? My child is changing boards and I would love to know your wise opinions?? TIA

Edexcel is by far the most popular.

Neither are easier, they are all standardised to each other.

Why do you have the option to choose? Schools usually dictate.

Edexcel has far more practise papers and resources if you are home Ed.

That isn't because it's easier though.

Why is your DC changing boards?

Huggler · 08/02/2020 13:30

He is doing it externally, so gets to choose. He's been doing Edexcel but seems to prefer AQA. I would like him to choose the easier one :)

They are the same. They have basically the same content....

Why would one be easier? A grade 9 is a grade 9, 6 a 6 etc! Papers are standardised. They might vary slightly and have different grade boundaries to reflect this but it's not easier to get a good grade in one than another.

The welsh board is easier

Hercwasonaroll · 08/02/2020 18:43

None of them are easier. There's barely any difference tbh!! One board is slightly less wordy (AQA maybe?) but they cannot be easier.

My DDs school have switched from AQA to Edexcel when DD was at the end of Y10 (she is now Yr11). The teacher told them that Edexel rewards hard work... So if you work hard you will do better than if doing AQA. I think she means that AQA can be a bit wordy and mislead? but not 100% sure tbh. DD seems happy enough.

AQA is more predictable. Edexcel does have the odd questions that can throw a lot of the weaker students off in the middle of the exam, which can be unsettling.
