Eltham or Dulwich

Hi all,

DS has secured a place in Eltham and he is also in the final stages of Dulwich. We are in a dilemma to choose between them in case if he secures Dulwich.

Eltham - 20- 30 mins
Dulwich - 45 mins.

Yes, he is also a sports fanatic and he is good in Piano and Guitar.

Any inputs?

Thanks

You’ve only got a decision to make when Dulwich offers him a place. My son got an interview at Dulwich last year but wasn’t offered a place (he got Trinity, Whitgift and Colfes though). I think Dulwich is a brilliant school but so is Eltham. Whichever one you choose he will do well and be happy.

I would go for Dulwich if he gets it. Eltham is a great school and I wouldn't be disapointed if that was where my child ended up.

What year group is he? And which sports?

Eltham is upping its game academically- there isn't much difference between the two nowadays. Eltham also starting co-ed as I'm sure you know. At Eltham he'll probably have more local friends and the journey will be quicker (and he could do it independently?) whereas the kids are more scattered at Dulwich. Dulwich is seen as more prestigious I think and is possibly a bit more 'moneyed'.

Ah - so will get automatic pass into the Senior sch. Does Dulwich do that too?

chalkyc2 · 11/02/2020 13:44

What did you decide @user1489589564 ?

DarlingOscar · 13/02/2020 13:51

'moneyed'???

We chose DC in the same situation at 11. Just felt the senior staff looked at education in a different way - exam results seen as a necessary evil but the ethos very much on developing the whole boy, and that's what we've experienced.

Pretty sure all the DC junior boys get into the senior school automatically too?
