Hi all, would appreciate some information by those who have had their chidren on the waiting list for Primary and Secondary at Wren.

Does the wating list actually move or is there very little movement? Just wondering if it is worth puting my DS name for an In year admission request.

Many thanks!

Unfortunately, I can't answer your question, but ai the would have thought you have nothing to lose by staying on the waiting list?

Just to say, my daughter and I absolutely loved this school when we went to see it and I am really considering moving into the catchment.

Thank you. You are right there is no harm. Just wondered if the waiting list moved at all or is it pretty static throughout. Sort of sets expectations.

This is a question for Barnet or the school rather than Mumsnet, to be honest. You should also bear in mind that what's happened in previous years is in no way an indication of what's likely to happen this year. You won't know the real answer until next September.

Alliswell12 · 20/12/2019 14:54

Barnet and the school do not reveal such info about how frequent the waiting list moves.

The question I asked is for mumsnet. I am just looking for parents with prior experience with this.

I understand this will not be, in any way a definite way the list will move again. Was just wondering what has happened in the past and whether the waiting list moves much at all.

You should be able to ask Barnet/the school the following questions:

What was the furthest distance offered on 1st March 2019?

What was the furthest distance offered prior to 1st September?

How many first place applications did they receive for September 2019 admission?

The actual number of places moved on the waiting list in prior years is irrelevant as the answers to the above questions will vary year on year and until March next year you won't know whereabouts your child is on the waiting list anyway.

I am not looking for answers for the questions for the suggested to ask Barnet. I know those are available.

My question is for those parenta who have done an In year admission submission as per my original post.

Fair enough - you weren't getting any other answers so I was just trying to help! Actual data from past years seems more quantifiable than anecdotal evidence on waiting list movement to me, but I accept you must feel differently.

Most London schools see a fair amount of shift in their waiting lists between March-Sept, so the Wren would be an exception if there were none. I hope a Wren parent comes along to give you the answer you want.

Thank you Zinnia. I do appreciate your input.
