Reasons for preference on eadmissions form

I am guessing that this can't include distance from school being walkable (in an effort to be environmentally conscious)?

Unless you have reason to ask for special consideration under a different category ie. Health if there is one , leave it blank

Hersetta427 · 22/10/2019 16:44

its for things like - your DC uses a wheelchair and the preferred school is all on one level. Putting the school is walkable is irrelevant to the application and will be ignored.

RedskyToNight · 22/10/2019 16:50

It's irrelevant unless it's to provide extra evidence of (e.g.) health and social needs, where that's a criteria
So just leave it blank.

ColdRainAgain · 22/10/2019 17:05

We had some tick boxes for this - so I ticked that I believed we were in admission zone for the ones we were, and left the other schools blank.
I didnt write anything in the free text box that came up afterwards

Theresnobslikeshowbs · 23/10/2019 08:43

Additional information for health etc.
Walking to school is not considered and will be ignored.

This is a good place to include information which might not be clear/prominent enough otherwise, and which is relevant to the admissions criteria.

Such as mobility issues (uses chair, requires accessible school, all those listed on form are suitable, it would be perverse to place in a non-accessible school) or things like: 'You stated this DC would be treated as an in-catchment sibling, despite address, as elder sibling was allocated this school because it was the only one with a vacancy when we moved. Your email dateX confirms this undertaking'

Your reasons for finding the school desirable, whether for transport, pastoral or pedagogic reasons won't come in to it. Only things which directly relate to the entrance criteria

This box tends to give parents the impression they have more chance of getting in. It usually doesn’t, unless what you write in there directly relates to one of the admission criteria.
