Computer Science: Overlap between GCSE and AS Level?

DS will probably choose Maths, Further Maths and Physics A Level next year. One of the sixth forms he's applying to also offers the opportunity to do an AS Level - and he would choose between Computer Science and Economics. He's already doing GCSE Computer Science, but it isn't a pre-requisite for doing the AS, so we're wondering about how much overlap there will be. Some overlap will be an advantage, but too much might be frustrating.

Depends on the exam board. If OCR, there is a lot of overlap. For the new 9-1 GCSE, they basically took a lot from the AS qualification due to the short notice from Gove. I once counted that of the specification bullet points, 57 of them were identical to the GCSE (out of 75).
It’s if doing the whole A Level that there is a big jump.
