Alleyn’s 9+ entry

Hi all

We are planning to enroll our DS for Alleyns 9+ entry in 2020. He will have to appear for assessment followed by interview and this will be sometime in January 2020. Any advice/inputs in terms of what I should be focusing on. DD is good with maths and he is also a good reader. But he is shy and that’s my only fear.

Could anyone shed their experience which would be useful for us.

Thanks

They have sample papers on their website and the confirmed exam dates
You need to practice timed papers and also exam technique such as moving on if they get stuck

My DD sat the 9+ a few years ago from an outstanding state school. There were about 60 odd applicants for about 4 places. We were a bit naive and she had a tutor for one term. She was definitely one of the brighter ones in her class but underprepared eg had simply not covered some of the topics in the maths exam. Friends son also sat same time and got DC but not Alleyns.

I heard that 2 of the 4 offers went to girls from JAPS so feel we had virtually no chance at that entry point. Appreciate that’s quite negative but that was our experience!

Now DD has passed the 11+ exam and waiting to hear if she gets an offer.
