How far did you live from your high school?

I lived about a 15 minute walk away , it was the closest one.

I used to cycle about 20 minutes to school. Google maps tells me it's only 2 miles so I must have been a slow cyclist, but I did stop and pick up friends on the way and chat with people so actual travel time was probably 10-15 mins

50 mins in the car, I used to sleep

About a mile - but the catchment area was about 40 Miles... on the mainland and a bit further for some of the islands it covers.

10 miles away. Overhead train and then the tube, or bus and tube.

Very rarely got driven to school because parents worked in central London and my school was 10 miles in the opposite direction.

About 7000km

First one was literally just across the road. Then moved school and it was 5 miles away.

Mine was about 2 miles away.
Dds was 6 miles and two buses. There is one we can see from our house but it is a very faith based school with Catholic priority before local kids.

0.7 miles away. About 15-20 min walk

50 minutes on the bus. Then we moved to 15 minutes on the bus.

I hated the 50 minutes on the bus and am always sceptical when posters say that their DC love their hour long journeys to school.

5 miles. Free school bus. Local comprehensive serving a number of villages.

About 40 miles - but I boarded. And then my parents moved abroad, so it took considerably longer to get home!

My children are 2 minutes and 1 minutes walk from their respective schools......my primary aged child has the longest walk at 10 minutes

5 miles. Although there were 4 comps in my town, my parents sent me to a girls comp in the next town. It took about an hour on the bus.

1.5 miles. So 2.4km.
About half an hour walk (20-30mins dependent on speed!) and I lived on a hill!
Use to catch bus from halfway down hill and usually got the bus to halfway back up. Bus to top was bad times and never on time!

It was a 10 mile bus ride in awful solid traffic. It could take around 2 hours on bad days. That is why I have always lived right next door to my work. Did all my commuting in my teens!

About half a mile

About 4miles. Was collected in the mornings and dropped to the school gate, as my aunt taught at a nearby school. But the route home took us an hour via 2 buses followed with a 15/20 minute walk(uphill!!)

About 6 miles! Got the train then walked about 10/15 minutes.

10 miles, my parents had to appeal to get me in, our catchment one was about 15 miles away.
Took an hour on the bus, hated the travelling.

Boarded, so 800 miles down to 50 when we returned to England. If we hadn't gone abroad, it would have been about 8 miles, 45-60 min on a school coach. Pre-seatbelts so if one coach didn't arrive there would be two coach loads squeezed onto one bus.

2 minutes walk. I could see school from my bedroom window.

20 mins walk - through suburbs- no direct public transport option. Never once had a lift from DF - wouldn't have crossed his mind to do so (or me to ask) and DM didn't drive.

First one was a mile. Second one was 2 miles. Walked there and back everyday. Wouldn't have even thought of getting the bus. No wonder I was so skinny in those days.

4 miles - I went on the bus. But I went to the grammar school so it wasn't the nearest.
By dc ave all been able to walk to their schools - 1.1 miles for ds and 1.5 miles for dds.

7 miles, travelled by school bus.

About 15-20 minutes walk. A couple of main roads and through a park.
