LEH in Hampton

My daughter went to the open day recently and absolutely loved it. She’ll be sitting the exam in January, but I’m aware it’s very, very competitive. Anyone have any insight on numbers that sit and numbers they offer, or what you need to be particularly strong in? She is bright, and we are doing some other tough ones including PHS and WHS but I think LEH is probably tougher? Thanks.

Include 1 or 2 'back ups'. That doesn't mean schools that are worse per se, just not as academically rigorous in case

I don't think LEH is tougher than WHS. I know of a dd last year who got WL at WHS but scholarship at LEH.
Make sure you have a good back up school, you could easily get 3 rejections from that selection.
See the thread "4 rejections from senior schools - options" thread from earlier this year.

It's worth looking at threads from last year you'll see that is not quite as straightforward as one place being better than another. My DD got WHS and Tiffin but not PHS. One girl got Tiffin and St Paul's but not WHS. I think one girl got LEH but not Tiffin. It's really unpredictable. I do think the girls all ended up at the right school for them. You'll get a gut feel for what is right for your own DD when you visit these schools.

LEH had better GCSEs than WHS or PHS this year. But yes, you do need a back up school as they’re all very competitive.

Thanks- we’ve got a couple of other options too- Woldingham and Surbiton as ‘back ups’ which I’m hoping would be ok? Personally I loved PHS and LEH, I could see her at either. WHS we are looking at soon, to see what we think. She wasn’t overly keen on PHS for some reason, but loved LEH, just don’t want her to have her heart set on it as it’s a big gamble!

Good back ups.

LEH is still quite a local school along with Hampton Boys. They may have an extensive coach network but the traffic can be shocking. Don't forget the boat house for rowing is in Sunbury-On-Thames with no public transport links & you need to drive to the school for Saturday sports matches.

Hopefully come February you will be in a position to consider all this information!
